The #1 topic of conversation at open houses in San Ramon and Danville is the highly ranked San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD), their schools and API* scores. Other than lifestyle, schools are THE main attraction to incoming relocation buyers in San Ramon and Danville CA. The state goal for all schools is an 800 API. Only 31% of all schools in California meet that goal. Less than 15% of all high schools state-wide meet the goal. All SRVUSD schools, including the high schools meet the goal.

The district API for nearby Mount Diablo Unified is 747, Newark Unified is 739, San Jose Unified is 758. The school currently serves 9th and 10th grade students during its first year, becoming a 9-12 high school in the year 2009. DVHS has approximately 300,000 square feet of floor space including four 2-story classroom buildings, a career technology building, library and cafeteria facilities, and administration building. In addition to the primary academic facilities, the school has a 600-seat performing arts center, football stadium/all-weather track, two gymnasiums, baseball/softball fields and a 50-meter pool aquatics center.
