The State of California uses a standardized measure of school performance called the Academic Performance Index or API for short. All schools and school districts in the state have an API and since the measure is standardized it is a good way to compare schools in different districts and locales. This link shows how to receive a report with the API Scores for schools in the San Ramon Valley and surrounding areas. More details about the API and its usage can be found at this California Department of Education site.
