San Ramon is a part of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District which is ranked as one of the top school districts in the state. These results place SRVUSD as the 6th highest unified school district in the state and the highest ranked among unified districts with more than 9,000 students. The overall 2009 API growth score for the district was 914.

Parents love our excellent public school system as it seamlessly provides their children with top-notch education from kindergarten through the 12th grade. Our 11 outstanding elementary schools all rank within the top 3% statewide and include Bollinger Canyon School, Country Club School, Coyote Creek School , Golden View School , Hidden Hills Elementary, Live Oak Elementary, Montevideo School, Neil Armstrong School , Quail Run Elementary, Twin Creeks School, Walt Disney School. All are K-5 schools.

Both superior high schools rank within the top 3% statewide. Congratulations to California High School and Dougherty Valley High School. While California High School is one of California’s Distinguished Schools and a National Blue Ribbon School, the Buzz is all about the new high school, Dougherty Valley High School. DVHS has approximately 300,000 square feet of floor space including four 2-story classroom buildings, a career technology building, library and cafeteria facilities, and administration building. In addition to the primary academic facilities, the school has a 600-seat performing arts center, football stadium/all-weather track, two gymnasiums, baseball/softball fields and a 50-meter pool aquatics center. The expanded pool and theatre were made possible through a partnership with the City of San Ramon.
